Risks to your entire business are not of the security breach variety from outside attacks, data breaches, or even careless employees. Another risk comes from everyone in your business – even the most loyal, careful, and capable employees. We are all human. That means that we are not always as rational at decision-making as we may think we are. From our daily decisions, like where to eat for lunch, to bigger ones, such as where we choose to live, cognitive biases affect every aspect of our decision-making processes. By deviating from the norm or thinking rationally in our judgment, this type of thinking creates a “subjective reality.” This may lead to more effective actions in a certain context, but it’s foolish to assume such thinking doesn’t lead to a distorted view of risks or inaccurate judgments in when it comes to protecting what matters most…
